57th Annual Odwira Festival
Onipa Abusia Inc., and the Dinizulu Cultural Arts Institute (DCAI) are presenting the 57th Annual Odwira Festival, the Akan New Year celebration, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Occasions Banquet and Catering Hall, 127-08 Merrick Blvd. Queens, NY 11434.
The ODWIRA (African New Year) ritual celebration initiated here in the U.S., in 1968 by Nana Yao Opare Dinizulu I, is our observation of this ancient African tradition. Just as communities gather together in West Africa, we participate here with the other descendants of our West African ancestors in this recognition of our common cultural heritage.
This event will be honoring the continuing legacy of Nana Yao Opare Dinizulu I. This gala fundraising dinner dance is the highlight of our Odwira celebration.
